Privacy Policy

Privacy is important to us. It’s one of the reasons we describe ourselves as ‘discreet and boutique’. To better protect your privacy and increase transparency we have explained our online information practices below. (For the absence of doubt, what follows is a lightly customised, generic regulatory statement that has nothing to do with our ability to write compelling copy. And bravo to you for actually reading a privacy policy.)

Thank you for visiting The Good Vikings Website. The Good Vikings Limited is an editorial content and publishing company, registered in England and Wales, with trading premises in Scotland, UK.

At The Good Vikings we take your privacy extremely seriously and this Privacy Notice explains the what, how and why of the data that we collect when you visit one of our Websites. It also explains the specific ways that we use and disclose that information.

The Data Protection Act (DPA), Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) seek to protect and enhance the rights of individuals. These rights cover the safeguarding of Personal Data, and protection against the unlawful processing of Personal Data. GDPR does not apply to information already in the public domain.

These companies are not authorised to keep or use your Personal Data for any other purpose.

Cookies

Similar to other commercial websites, our website uses a technology called "cookies" and web server logs to collect information about how our website is used.

Cookies are small text files that are stored by web browsers on your computer or mobile device. When you visit a website, that site's server asks your computer for permission to store this file in a part of your hard drive specifically designated for cookies. These files often include an anonymous unique identifier.

Cookies and web server logs allow websites to store things like user preferences, time and date of visits and page views to analyse web traffic.

How we use Cookies:

The Good Vikings Ltd use “analytical” cookies, which, in conjunction with our web server's log files, allow us to calculate the aggregate number of people visiting our website and which parts of the Website is most popular. This helps us analyse data about web page traffic and allows us to improve our website in order to tailor it to users’ needs. We only use this data for statistical purposes after which the data is removed.

On some of our web pages, third parties may also set their own cookies (for example when you click social media sharing buttons or view embedded videos hosted on another website). The Good Vikings Ltd cannot access the data stored in any such cookies (nor can such third parties access the The Good Vikings Ltd cookies).

By using our Website, you are deemed to consent to our use of the analytical cookies described above.

You can refuse to accept cookies by activating the setting in your browser, which allows you to refuse the setting of cookies. Please consult your browser provider support for instructions on how to do this. Please note that if you set your browser settings to block all cookies (including essential cookies) this may affect the performance of the website.
